Western Australian Veterinary Emergency and Specialty (WAVES) is a new referral specialty, critical care and emergency veterinary hospital opening in Success, WA in May 2013. WAVES is committed to finding the right team to staff our new hospital over the long term. We are looking for exceptional, enthusiastic and dedicated nurses who love customer service and want to be veterinary receptionists. Veterinary medical knowledge is essential for this position. Previous experience as a referral hospital receptionist would be a big advantage however your approach is the most important thing to us. You will get training, continuing education and workplace support if you have the right attitude, but only lack referral hospital experience. You will be first and last person people meet and speak to at our hospital so it is essential that you make them feel comfortable and deal with them in an efficient and caring manner. You will also play an essential role in ensuring that the remainder of the hospital functions well by ensuring that cases are booked in appropriately to see the correct specialist and that you expedite referring vets phone calls to the appropriate specialist when they require phone advice. Your duties will include: • Answering phone calls and emails and dealing appropriately with queries from clients and regular vets • Booking in patients for consultations and procedures and ensuring that clients are instructed appropriately on any preparation they need to make • Ensuring that lab results and referral letters are appropriately archived in the patient data base • Ensuring that referral letters have been successfully sent for each patient and that regular vets have received all required information after we have seen their patient • Ensuring all laboratory results are attached to patient records and directed to the attention of the appropriate specialty department • Maintaining the hospital procedures and standards • Writing new procedures as required • Liaising with suppliers and occasionally sourcing unusual medications or consumables required for patients • Confirming all patient accounts are paid • Handling insurance forms and making sure they are completed and sent off rapidly • Balancing the till at the start and end of your shift each day • Any other duties to ensure that our hospital runs smoothly. The position is a 12 month maternity leave contract.
